Designing Your Business Card
Make sure the name and basic nature of your businesses is very clear and easy to read. Think of your business card as a mini billboard that is quick and simple to understand and NOT a mini flyer or brochure with too many details.
However, it is also beneficial from a marketing standpoint to include some sort of call to action, such as "Present this card for a discount." Yet avoid boring standards like, "the best _______ in town" since these phrases have been over used in the past.
Use caution when considering adding a photo to your business cards. Consciously or subconsciously, your hairstyle, facial expression, race, gender, age and attire can all negatively influence the effectiveness of your business card. You business can be perceived as unprofessional, and especially with outdated photos, create a level of mistrust. Although some professionals like to add this personal touch, it is always a best practice to carefully consider how this will affect your image. |

Printing Services
Bizcard prints all of its products in-house, which allows us to take your custom logo and create a wide range of premium quality products at affordable prices. Make your business stand out with foiled and embossed business cards, stationery, presentation folders and more.
Bizcard prints all materials in Full Color Process (four color). The full color process is a system where a color image is separated into four different color values by the use of filters and screens. The result is a color separation of four images are transferred to printing plates and printed on our presses with the colored inks cyan, magenta, yellow, and black reproduces the original color image.
We are also able to print in Spot colors. Spot color is the pre-mixed colors rather than by combining color from cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. When printing in spot color, it is best to use PANTONE colors to ensure consistency of color.
We are also able to print in Spot colors. Spot colors are pre-mixed, rather than being created by combining color from cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. When printing in spot colors, it is best to use the PANTONE matching system to ensure consistency.
Bizcard also offers 3-D embossing. This is the creation of a three dimensional design or image on paper. Heat and pressure reshapes the surface of the paper to create the image. Single, multi-level, beveled, and sculptured are the styles of embossing. Embossing can be done on plain paper or combined with ink, images, or foil for special effects.
Foiling is the process of placing metallic images on paper through the use of hot stamping. Every letter is painstakingly placed in a type holder and attention is given to just the right heat, pressure and dwell time. The entire stamping site is masked off for protection. In the style of Old World craftsmanship, a good eye and a steady hand are necessary here. |

History of Business Card
Dating back to 15th century China, business cards evolved from traditional trade cards and visiting cards as a form of advertising and exchange of contact information between businessmen. Visiting cards, also known as calling cards, later appeared in Europe as a way to introduce the arrival of aristocrats and royalty to their prospective hosts in the 17th century.
Around the same time, the card moved from its social beginnings to more of a business purpose with the use of the trade cards in London. Besides being the main source for advertising, the trade card was to direct the public to a merchant’s location with the use of maps and directions because no formal street address system existed at the time.
These early trade cards were printed by woodcut or letterpress and were usually monotones or contained a small amount of tint. Businesses used their cards as marks of distinction and began the first modifications of their design or logo. Later, as the growing demand for the cards boosted the development of color printing, more elaborate card designs appeared, making the cards works of art.
Today, business cards are evolving to a more sophisticated type of communication. There are various types of printing methods used, including spot and four color inks, traditional letterpress, and thermography. Traditional cards are still printed on paper, yet other materials such as plastic and metal are becoming increasingly popular.
Bizcard, an online innovator of business cards, has taken this one step further by offering business cards in different shapes and sizes. Slim Business Cards have become one of the most popular products, with Square Business Cards rapidly growing a fan base as well. In the future, Bizcard plans to offer hundreds of different die cut shapes and sizes to meet the demands of unique printed marketing. |
